Carlson Reed Co.
Handmade Bassoon Reeds
My name is Jinju Carlson. I am bassoonist from Northern Virginia and recieved my Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from James Madison University as a student of Dr. Susan Barber. I currently split my time between Virginia and Cambridge, MA where I attended the Longy School of Music for my graduate studies.
I started this online/home business in 2006 during a break between graduate schools. Confident in my reed making skills, I thought what could be a better job than one that requires me to be in the practice room. And sad but true, I do enjoy making bassoon reeds...
I may not have 20+ years of reed making experience like many other reed makers advertise, but I guarantee my reed work is of the highest quality. Each reed is hand made and tested on a 13K Heckel bassoon. When needed, minor adjustments are made before dispersal according to response in the high and low registers, tone and intonation, A=440.
Reeds are sterilized before dispersal.
